スケートボードから多大な影響を受けて制作を始めたサワイは、スケートボードカルチャーに散見する火を用いたグラフィックデザインが当たり前に存在している生活が起点となり、この実体験が火という存在について考える

契機となりました。日本の風俗習慣である「迎え火」に用いられる火の存在を「異界と接続する触媒」という観点で捉え、火をモチーフとした作品を発表することで絶えず拡張する文明と「接続」を続ける人間の未来を中立した視点から表現しようと試みています。
 

Daisuke Sawai presents works based on the theme of "connection."
Heavily influenced by skateboarding, Sawai began creating art, and his starting point was his life where the graphic designs using fire that are scattered throughout skateboarding culture are a common occurrence. This experience prompted him to think about the existence of fire.
He sees the fire used in the Japanese custom of "mukaebi" (welcoming fires) as a "catalyst that connects with another world," and by producing works with a fire motif, he attempts to express from a neutral perspective the future of humanity, which continues to "connect" with an ever-expanding civilization.
